AMPO Ouagadougou
We have a new Board!
This year our Annual General Meeting took place in Hamburg – and we were really pleased to see a large turnout. Some of our members travelled quite a distance to join us.
Every 2 years we hold elections for the Board. Andrew Sharp, Magrit Ketelsen, Fabiola Richter and Diren Bulut were not standing for re-election. For the past 8 years Andrew and Magrit have spared no effort to provide loyal support to the association and for that they deserve our heartfelt thanks.
There was quite a variety of topics on this year’s AGM agenda:
presentation of the candidates for election to the Board, the report from the headquarters in Berlin, a report by Katrin Rohde on the current situation in Burkina Faso, presentation of the plans for the 30-year jubilee celebration on the 10th of October in Hamburg by Johann Vosteen and of course the figures and the annual financial statement were presented by the outgoing Chairman of the Board, Andrew Sharp.
The time has come for new faces and new ideas and we are pleased to welcome the members of the newly elected Board.
Once again the Baseler Hof hotel provided us with a wonderful location.
There was plenty of room to display the new products from Burkina Faso and to advertise the lovely new coffee-table book (expected to appear mid June 2025 - you can pre-order now ). It was an opportunity for interesting discussions and picking up the ideas of the members present.
We were very pleased at the feedback from one of our members, Abdoulaye Kabore – a former AMPO boy. He has settled in Germany and lives with his wife in Kiel.
Dear friends,
For me it was a wonderful moment, something very special:
Seeing someone again after 19 years and meeting Ute once more after 9 years was very touching.
Your sincere smiles and your openness made this moment even more special.
You are truly wonderful people and I am grateful to have met you.
With warm regards,
Abdoulaye
These lines were also very touching for us too.
If you would like to join us, why not become a member. We would be very happy to welcome you.
